Tip: Direct link is great for conversions, but it’s also the most policy-sensitive path. Use the landing page fallback + AI Shield to reduce risk.

A direct link sends people to a target URL with no intermediate page. On OnLynk, this maps to the direct link field on your link page when your plan includes direct links.

Direct links are convenient, but social platforms (Instagram, X, Facebook, and others) apply automated checks and policies on outbound links. A direct URL can be reviewed more aggressively than a compliant landing page.

  • Automated review — Platforms may fetch or classify your destination; restricted or sensitive destinations can trigger strikes or limits.
  • Manual review — No technical mitigation fully replaces human moderation if your account is flagged.
  • Policy changes — Rules update; what worked last month may not today.
  • Landing pages — Your onlynk.me/<username> page acts as a buffer: you control branding, disclosures, and which outbound URLs you expose.
  • Bot handling — See AI Shield and Glossary for how automated traffic is handled in direct flows.
  • Geo rules — Restrict or redirect traffic by region when your plan supports it (Geo-restrictions).
  • Prefer a full landing page for sensitive or policy-sensitive destinations.
  • Keep destinations aligned with each platform’s terms and community guidelines.
  • Avoid spamming the same direct URL across many posts in a short window.
